So, it's been forever since I've posted something, but I'm going to start some new things and go somewhere new.
I've been hunting around for various inspiration and stumbled upon this painter Ian Francis. He does these amazing pieces about societal collapse. In writing about his techniques he said this about painting people realistically which I just thought suited me perfectly as well:
"Taking the time to paint them or dram them, and often erasing parts of the image and rework them over and over again forces me to pay attention to the image, to try and really understand it. I guess it is a way of trying to slow the world down and understand a part of it. In a way it is a really pointless thing to do, to try and paint elements of photos realistically when they are already reproduced digitally on thousands of computers around the world. I think the thing I love about it is trying to preserve the moment in my mind."
Just made me happy. Now I've gotta go paint.
